The question is not only "how many workers?" The better question is: can this crew place the concrete inside the unload window and still finish the surface correctly?

Example: 12x12 patio crew screen
A 12 ft x 12 ft x 4 in patio needs 1.96 yd3 after a 10% waste factor. At $165 per yd3 plus $125 delivery, the delivered concrete screen is:
1.96 yd3 x $165 = $323.40
$323.40 + $125 delivery = $448.40 delivered
If the truck can chute close to the forms, the crew question is mostly forms, placement, screed, finish, ticket, and washout. If the truck stops 75 ft away, the same 1.96 yd3 becomes about 22 practical 3 ft3 wheelbarrow trips before spills, staging, and breaks.

If the supplier includes only 30 unload minutes and charges $2 per extra minute, a slow 55 minute wheelbarrow plan creates a $50 wait-time screen before extra labor or finish risk.
Example: 3.5 yd3 long route
A 3.5 yd3 pour is 94.5 ft3. At a practical 2.5 ft3 per wheelbarrow trip, that is about 38 trips.
3.5 yd3 x 27 = 94.5 ft3
94.5 / 2.5 = 37.8 trips
If the route takes 7 minutes per round trip:

That table does not prove a pump is always cheaper. It proves the crew plan is not ready until wheelbarrow labor, truck wait time, finish timing, and pump or buggy alternatives have been priced.

How many people do I need for a concrete pour?
There is no universal crew count. The planning answer depends on yards, placement method, route distance, unload window, finish timing, weather, ticket owner, and washout plan.
Is one or two helpers enough for ready-mix?
Maybe for a very small direct-chute pour with forms ready and an experienced finisher. It can be too little for a long wheelbarrow route, hot weather, a continuous slab, or a short unload window.
